After his retirement as an airline pilot, Thomas K. Morton moved to a house in Denver next to Fairmount Cemetery. For exercise he would walk through the cemetery and became interested in the history it contained. He wrote several articles for his Home Association newsletter about some of the people he had researched in the cemetery. About fifteen years ago he became a volunteer with the Fairmount Heritage Foundation, and as such he led tours of the cemetery as well as continuing his research on its history and the lives of people interred there.
