The 1951 modernist building has served the Owl Club of Denver from 1960 to the present day. A landmark organization in the history of Denver's African American community, the Owl Club's mission has been and continues to be one that promotes diversity, inclusion, and respect. Its members and others associated with the organization have included some of the most notable figures in Denver's African American community, as well as Denverites who have made important contributions elsewhere in the country.

Further, the Owl Club building has been the location of planning and support activities for the Owl Club's most significant annual event, the Debutante Cotillion, which began in 1951. This is the first recorded Debutant Cotillion in the City of Denver and the first event solely dedicated to providing high-achieving young African American women with the opportunity to showcase their talent.
